weekend roundup + motto

Happy Monday! What a whirlwind of a weekend! Life has been non-stop for the past couple of weeks, and it's definitely catching up {starting with a cold coming on}, but I'm determined to stop it ASAP! The weekend started off right with a good friend visiting from Auburn that I've known since way back in middle school, Katie! Saturday was full of anticipation and good times with friends at the game, which I must say, they are pretty awesome! If you happened to not catch the game, Alabama dominated Tennessee {37 - 6}.

This weeks motto . . .

Weekend Roundup

Hello there readers! Last week was exhausting from work and school so I planned for a relaxing weekend . . . well that didn't happen quite well. It was packed full of fun! Friday we went and saw Moneyball {which I highly recommend going to see}. Saturday some friends went to see Alabama dominate on Ole Miss turf, and Sunday we took a quick trip to Birmingham to hear Katie Davis speak.

Kelsey, Meredith, and myself at the game! We took a 3.5 hour road trip to Mississippi. I must say one of my favorite things are car rides, there is always such interesting conversation.

John David scored us some awesome seats in the visitor player's section . . . we were right next to the end zone!

Here's a snap shot not soon after the second half started of the Ole Miss student section. Let's just say it cleared out pretty quickly.

Final score: 52 - 7!!

But the real highlight of the game was Trent Richardson's uncle sat in front of us. Which was wildly entertaining, 1) because he got really excited every time Trent had a great play {which was just about every other drive} and 2) because it was funny watching fans try to get his attention/ high five him when Trent had a great run/ get a picture with him.
Back in March of 2010 I posted about Katie Davis. Katie has an amazing story where she moved to Uganda right out of high school at the age of 18 and now is 23 with 13 adopted children, living out the word of God. Her blog shares her stories and tribulations of life and how God is working through her to help others. Some friends and I were very fortunate to see her last night at The Church of Brook Hills, also the home church of David Platt. She is one humble lady for sure! I love how she has done so many great things with her life, but when people give her praises she just refutes them and says that she is just "doing what God called me to do as a follower of Him".

weekend roundup

Roll Tide! It was a fun gameday Saturday in Tuscaloosa . . . and by fun I mean lots of picture taking, goofing around, and fellowship with friends during the game! Not to be mistaken, we watched the game, but after we were toppling North Texas by about 24 pts, I lost interest. Here's a round of photos, enjoy! Roommates! {true fact: girl in the background hasn't shaved her legs in a year}Note Sarah's tube socks.

John David got to dress out!

And photo of the night belongs to Kelsey and Sarah. You are both beautiful {inside and out}!
Hope that last photo made your day, if not then have a listen Ben Rector's new song titled "She Is"

Or John Mayer and Tony Bennett's take of "One For My Baby"

wednesday night entertainment

One of my favorite past times is listening to music and going to concerts. We have this neat venue called Workplay in Birmingham that some friends and I frequent. Wednesday night we made a short road trip to see Andrew Ripp and Steve Moakler start off their Half and Half tour!
Let the road trip begin . . .

I had never heard anything by Andrew Ripp besides a few downloaded songs a few weeks back, but I must tell you to definitely check him out!

One of my favorites is his song, Peace Like A River, written about/for his wife.

Group shot with wonderful friends!
Roomies!

Helllloooo Steve!

His new album, Watching Time Run, is an absolute must listen!

in the house + lately

A bedroom should be peaceful and serene, a room to escape the craziness of the rest of the house. You all should know by now I'm a sucker for brick, and let's face it, what's better than brick in your bedroom. It adds an interesting element in the room don't you think?!

Could you imagine a nap in this bed?! Heaven!!!

Now this is my favorite! Simple, sophisticated, yet elegant.
I love the rustic wood headboard!

In other news, here are some pictures from the past couple weeks you might enjoy!

My brother Josh played in his high school jamboree in just so happened to be in Tuscaloosa! Luckily I was off from work and school hadn't started then, so I went with some friends to show some support! Can't believe he's that much taller than me . . . I think he grew a foot over the summer!

Celebrated Chelsea's birthday last week! Remember when we had our first roomie pic taken?! , not to mention my first blog post! Crazy that was 3 years ago!

Sweet friends!

At Tara's going away party . . . she's off to Spain for the semester studying abroad!!!! Incredibly jealous and can't wait to hear all about it when she gets back! Visit her blog to see her amazing adventure overseas!

Our good friend Tyler hosted a huge cookout this past Saturday. Unfortunately he was being perfect host and couldn't get him in the photo, but here is the only one I took. Seriously have got to get better about taking more pictures this year, I mean it is our last year all together! Please forgive the two boys in the back, they are Auburn friends, Blake and Brent.

day 4

Yep that's right, Jess and I woke up at 6am to get to GMA! I have to admit, I've only seen the show just a few times, but my sister is an avid viewer. So we woke up bright and early, walked the 4 miles to the studio in Times Square. Lucky us, but we were up front and our parents back home in Birmingham saw us! It was well worth the early morning and long walk.

Walking towards Chinatown and Little Italy again.

This time we really found the heart of both! It was definitely a sight worth seeing. Especially in Chinatown where the locals go grocery shopping. I saw some very authentic foods that I particularly will never eat {weird shaped mushrooms, saw a chicken hanging in a window}!

We made our way down to the financial district which had some of the most beautiful buildings I've ever seen!

We made our way to the Brooklyn Bridge!

Even met this couple who had just gotten married in the courthouse and were taking their wedding pictures on the bridge!

Last stop was the Trade Center Memorial Site. Definitely touching.

"Dedicated to those who fell and to those who carry on."

"May we never forget."

Not pictured is our wait at the airport home. We were scheduled a flight that left LaGaurdia at 8pm. Due to weather our flight was cancelled to the next day. Need less to say, Jessica and I "slept" in the airport over night which based on our experience, one should never do!

This trip although short, was well worth the early mornings and late nights! I think we packed a lot of sight seeing and shopping in the short days we were there! I CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK!!!
