a bust

This was my walk home from work early afternoon on Monday . . .
After a much talked about blizzard that was suppose to blanket Manhattan with up to two feet of snow that evening, I was pleasantly surprised when I walked out to this Tuesday morning . . .
I've never been more grateful.
Okay, that might be a tad dramatic. But seriously, thank you Juno for skipping over the city & high five to the snow plows.
I'm officially over this winter & beginning the countdown to warm weather. Although I'll be sad to trade in my cozy plaids & blanket scarves for pretty pastels, I'm ready to hang up my puffer jacket for awhile. I've started to compile a list of my spring must-haves.
These are on the top of my list . . .

dreaming of spring
lace tops / boyfriend jeans / pink lipstick / leather-strap watch / pop-of-color bag
pretty flats / tortoise sunnies / statement necklace / neutral polish / a spring-y scent

happy weekend!

The first couple weeks back in the office have been quite the whirlwind. It's nice getting back into the routine of things, but now that I'm back in the city I'm desperately trying to not get sucked into the winter blues. It helps to have something to look forward to every weekend for the next two months. First up, a weekend celebrating a friend's birthday!
Life lately has been a lot of brisk walks to work, our first snow {that actually stuck to the pavements} last week, and a relaxing weekend in the middle of nowhere. This past weekend Bryan & I took a little road trip upstate New York for a whiskey tour & tasting. I think I was more interested in the cows . . .
First snow of the year!
Can you blame me? How cute are they?!

Looking: forward to the weekend
Playing: scrabble - probably my favorite Christmas gift this year
Wasting: time by binge watching The Wire (six episodes in one day is a little excessive, no?)
Wishing: I was back in Franklin - love that little town
Enjoying: a good nights rest
Feeling: refreshed & rejuvenated
Waiting: for this cold spell to leave the city
Liking: early mornings & coffee
Wondering: why in the world I chose to live in Manhattan and why I left my friends & family back in the south. But then I think to myself I am having the best experience of my life. I wake up in the morning & go to a job that I love. I have met some pretty special people & have never been more challenged with my beliefs & cultural differences than I am encountering right now.
Loving: an empty email mailbox - 223 emails read and responded to after 2 weeks off from work!
Hoping: I can stick with my New Year's goals
Needing: someone to organize my closet - didn't I just do it before I left?!
Smelling: my new & old fragrances. I have a thing for velvety woods, extravagant florals, & seductive musk
Making: goat cheese & sweet pepper salad for lunch this week
Wearing: a sweatshirt, leggings, & socks - sexy, I know.
Following: this quote | "Do stuff. Be clenched, curious. Not waiting for inspiration's shove or society's kiss on your forehead. Pay attention. It's all about paying attention. Attention is vitality. It connects you with others. It makes you eager. Stay eager." - Susan Sontag
Knowing: my goals & going after them
Thinking: about my 25th birthday coming this year - gosh I'm getting old haha
Bookmarking: songs to listen to
Opening: my book for this month's book club reading
